Wedding invitations for US and Canadian families travelling to India
Help North American guests understand an India wedding schedule with written dates, local times, traveller notes and clear response deadlines.

Make the location and date unmistakable
Write the month in words, include the year and label the Indian city and country. Numeric dates can be interpreted differently by different readers. “12 November 2026, Jaipur, India” is clearer than “12/11/26” for a mixed international guest list. This is an example format, not a suggested wedding date.
Keep wedding times local
The ceremony, arrival and dinner times should refer to the venue’s local time. Do not replace the event schedule with a guest’s home time: they will need the venue time after travelling. If guests will join an online event from abroad, provide a separate online joining time checked for the actual date and location.
Let guests plan without oversharing
An early date-and-city announcement helps people decide whether to explore travel. In the full invitation, include the venue, a map, any confirmed accommodation guidance and a contact. Leave flight booking references, travel documents and private household addresses out of public artwork. A private link can still be forwarded, so choose what is visible carefully.
Set an RSVP deadline around host decisions
Ask the venue or caterer when final attendance is needed, then allow time for follow-ups. Do not choose a deadline only because it looks conventional. Tell guests whether a reply covers the whole household and whether each event needs a separate answer. Record uncertain travel plans privately rather than treating silence as attendance.
Use a short personal introduction
Example: “We would love to celebrate with you in [city, India]. Here are the confirmed events, venue details and response form: [link]. Please let us know by [deadline] whether you can join us.” One clear message and a useful invitation are kinder than repeating long travel notes in every family group.
Questions couples ask
Should we show North American time for an India ceremony?
For guests attending in person, show the venue-local time. For online participation, separately check the actual date and participant location before providing a joining time.
